My name is Jessalyn Basden, and I’m a 24-year-old writer, copy editor, social media content creator, and blogger from a small town in Missouri. Growing up in a town with less than a thousand people and little to do, I found adventure and magic inside the pages of books — and it transformed my world. It blows my mind how 26 letters can intertwine together to form words that can tug on our heartstrings and leave an impact inside of us. I knew early on that I wanted to be a writer, and I haven’t turned away from it since. This is my ministry — this is my purpose.

I’m a firm believer that words matter, and they hold unspeakable power — the power to bring life and death, beauty, and destruction. I’m a lover by nature, and I’ve always had this desire in me to see the broken-hearted and weary healed, and what better way to encourage and heal than through my words? This is what drives me and sparks a fire in me. I want my words to stir something inside of all who read them and be a reflection of Jesus.

I am also a newlywed! I married my best friend, Jason, in a sweet ceremony surrounded by loved ones in 2023. We have a border collie named Leroy, who is the perfect boy and best dog a girl could ever ask for! We recently moved from Tulsa, OK to Joplin, MO and are finally getting settled into a new home.

My encouragement to you, the reader, is to go out into the world and do all the things that scare you. Life is too short to put your dreams on hold. I know from first hand experience that obedience to God and a simple “yes” can change the path of your entire life.
