Oh, hey there.
My name is Jessalyn Basden, and I’m a 24-year-old freelance writer, copy editor, and blogger from a small town in Missouri. Growing up in a town with less than a thousand people and little to do, I found adventure and magic inside the pages of books — and it transformed my world. It blows my mind how 26 letters can intertwine together to form words that can tug on our heartstrings and leave an impact inside of us. I knew early on that I wanted to be a writer, and I haven’t turned away from it since. This is my ministry — this is my purpose.
I’m a firm believer that words matter, and they hold unspeakable power — the power to bring life and death, beauty, and destruction. I’m a lover by nature, and I’ve always had this desire in me to see the broken-hearted and weary healed, and what better way to encourage and heal than through my words? This is what drives me and sparks a fire in me. I want my words to stir something inside of all who read them and be a reflection of Jesus.
I graduated in 2021 from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a degree in Writing. I have built a successful TikTok account that went from 0 followers to 40,000+ in a matter of months. I have experience working as a project coordinator for a Tulsa advertising agency on large clients in the outdoor/recreational world. I also have experience working as a communications coordinator with a children’s publishing company creating social media content and newsletter campaigns.
In January 2024, I started Jessalyn Faith Creative, LLC and began my journey in the freelance world and owning my own business. Currently, I am doing contract work as a Copyeditor for Trilogy Christian Publishing, a subsidiary of Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), and I am taking more clients! If you’re interested in working together, I would love to set up a meeting to discuss the project and needs.
I am also a newlywed! I married my best friend, Jason, in a sweet ceremony surrounded by loved ones in October of 2023. We have a border collie named Leroy, who is the perfect boy and best dog a girl could ever ask for! We recently moved from Tulsa, OK to Joplin, MO and are finally getting settled into a new home.
My encouragement to you, the reader, is to go out into the world and do all the things that scare you. Life is too short to put your dreams on hold. I know from first hand experience that obedience to God and a simple “yes” can change the path of your entire life. The fun stuff.
I am an enneagram 4 and an ENFP! Aside from writing, I also enjoy all things pop culture and have an interest in Criminal Justice and fighting human trafficking and exploitation of children by supporting organizations who are doing the work and making a difference. My favorites? The Demand Project and SOSA!
In my free time, you can find me at a coffee shop, attending concerts, and browsing the aisles of Barnes and Noble. I enjoy getting lost in stories, running a bookstagram account, drinking coffee, and creating playlists on Spotify. In the evenings, I kick it back with fuzzy socks on to watch movies, reality TV, and true crime documentaries.
